Just dropping you a line (no pun intended) to let you know how much we enjoyed our recent fishing trip. The fishing was the best it's been in thirty years! We released over one hundred and twenty fish! Most were over the size limit, not many small fish at all this year. The usual hot spots paid off as the fish hit at different areas on different days. There was no one best spot. Where there was no fish one day, they were there the next day or shortly thereafter. Later in the season seems to be more productive these last few years with the surface water in the 45 to 55 degree range. Look forward to seeing you next year around the same time.

If you're not in Aroostook County, you're not in Maine. My wife, Penny, and I have been coming up here since 1961, mostly to fish. Over the past eight years we've been hunting birds. The county is beautiful in the fall, and there are just enough birds to keep your interest, if you're willing to work for them. There is a lot of country to hunt and explore.

Aroostook is big country and offers endless experiences for the sportsmen with a little curiosity in their hearts and willing to put one foot in front of the other.

I just wanted to let you know how much our family enjoyed our visit to Fish River Lodge this July, The weather was absolutely wonderful--such a nice change from our 90 degree, 100% humidity here in Kentucky!

A very happy young fisherman.

A new method of fishing - and we have a beautiful salmon.

Nathan and Ethan with a very tasty meal!

The boys loved swimming in the lake and fishing off the dock. They're still talking about learning to kayak while we were there. You have the perfect place for a quality family vacation. The lake and surrounding areas are so beautiful, and the slow pace of Eagle Lake makes for a truly relaxing get-away.

I'm sure when we come back, Ethan and Nathan (and Ron!) will be looking for their fish pictures in our photo album. I know they look at them here in ours.

Thanks for all your hospitality--especially taking us out in your boat the last night there. Seeing those moose and that bald eagle were highlights of our trip.

We hope to see you again soon.

STRESSED OUT, TIRED, SICK OF THE RAT RACE? Then Fish River Lodge is the place for you! Eagle Lake is great for fishing, swimming, boating, canoe rides, and shy watching at night. During the day you can see the loons, ducks, eagles, and other birds out in front of the beach area. Other wildlife can be seen around the area such as moose, rabbits, deer, etc. This is truly Gods country!

It is a great vacation for the family or just the two of you. It truly is a vacation when you lose track of what day it is as my husband and I did this summer when we were there. We just smiled and said oh well ad went for a canoe ride up the river. So if you want to relax by the lake and read or go fishing it's your choice, you set the pace you want to relax by. This was our third year there and we are returning next year also. The hard part is when you have to leave to go home, wish I was there now.

I wake up every morning thinking about the peacefulness of your dock on Eagle Lake where I'd sip my coffee. Thanks for a great experience. We'll be in touch for next year!
