  History of Fish River Lodge

Tenley and Wayne are in the process of compiling a history of their sporting camps, but they are quite certain the main lodge, constructed from logs, was built around 1918. The original cabins on the property were constructed at roughly the same time although only one of the original log cabins remains. They've been told several of the camps were hauled down the ice by draft horse team in the 1920s or 30s and set up on the property the following spring. Others were constructed around 1940. "Charlie Wiles Lake View Camps" was very successful catering to hunters and fishers through the 1940s. Later the name of the operation was changed to Camps of Acadia and many of the locals still refer to it by that name. Kathy and Jim Lynch, from whom Tenley and Wayne purchased the property, renamed the operation to Fish River Lodge in the early 1990s.
