Hunting Moose (Zones 2, 3 and a portion of 6)
Our lodge is located in zone 3, with easy access to zone 2 and a portion of zone 6.
Moose are plentiful with unlimited forage in logging areas and average from 700-900
pounds. Trophy bulls weighing over 1000 pounds have been harvested by hunters staying
at Fish River Lodge. We know many areas where hunters can travel without running
into too much traffic and there are hundreds of miles of logging roads on which to
drive. Bring along a Maine Atlas & Gazetteer so we can show you the areas where moose
have been seen. In addition, the Fish River thoroughfares provide adventuresome
hunters an opportunity to hunt moose from a canoe!
For those who prefer full guide service and "no worries" before, during and after the
hunt, we offer an all inclusive huntÉlodging, meals, guide, transportation, and caping
trophy animals.
In between the "do it yourself" and "all inclusive" hunts are various combinations of
daily meals and guide services available so you can customize your hunt to suit your
needs.
Moose hunters enjoying early-week success during the September hunt might want to
bring along fishing gear. Fall brook trout and landlocked salmon fishing on Eagle
Lake is superb! Those finding success early in the week during the October hunt may
choose to take advantage of excellent grouse and duck hunting opportunities over our
German shorthaired pointers.
